Event Recorder
What is an Event Recorder?
The heart check event recorder is a non-invasive, battery operated device. The device is used by many health care professionals to record symptomatic heart arrhythmias. Event recorders are enhanced with arrhythmia detection firmware which will capture and automatically record asymptomatic, infrequent, heart arrhythmia events.
Patient Operating Instructions
To Hookup:
• Snap lead wires onto electrodes first then apply electrodes according to physicians instructions.
• Placement of white lead wire in the upper right side chest wall area.
• Placement of red lead wire on the left side of your chest midline to your breast.
• Apply fresh electrodes daily. A good time to do this is after you shower.
To Record:
• Press the RECORD button for two seconds until an audible tone is heard, then release.
• Hold as still as possible during the recording (continue breathing).
• The recording is complete and ready to send when a phone-ring sound is heard from the recorder.
Automatic Record:
Arrhythmia detection is ON and if an event is detected, the Recorder will automatically beep and start an event recording. The recording is complete and ready to send when a phone ring is heard from the Recorder.
To Send:
• Set the Recorder on a flat surface with the speaker hole up.
• Call the office at 757-825-4260 from a land line phone (cell phones do not work for the transmission).
• Follow receiving center instructions.
•When instructed, place the telephone mouthpiece over the Recorder speaker hole.
• Push the SEND button for two seconds (indicated by arrow on the front). The recorder will make audible tones while the recording is being sent. A falling tone will sound when the transmission is complete. Pressing SEND for two seconds again will retransmit the recording.
• When instructed by the receiving center that the events have been sent successfully, it is ok to erase events (see below).
Erase Events:
After a falling tone is heard (immediately after transmission):
• Press RECORD button for two seconds. This will erase any stored events from memory.
What NOT to do with you Event Recorder:
• Do NOT leave the batteries in the recorder when it is not in use.
• Use of rechargeable batteries is not recommended.
